TRUE HIP HOP FASHION…(The 1980s)

Pioneers of the Retro B-Boy Look & Culture

It’s important to acknowledge the pioneers who laid the foundation for the Retro B-Boy look, fashion, and culture. These individuals set the tone and brought a distinct flavor to the scene long before it became a trend:
1. BOM005 (MW)
2. Mr. Wiggles (RSC)
3. Pee Wee Dance
4. B-Boy K-Won
5. B-Boy Get ’em Gump
6. Zulu King Lucky Strike

Each of them brought their own signature to the retro aesthetic:
• Bom was known for rocking Pumas with fat laces, Kangols, and full graffiti-inspired gear.
• Mr. Wiggles consistently repped Spitfire caps and fat laces, staying true to the essence of the style.
• Lucky Strike had a whole collection of Kangols, all color-coordinated with his kicks and fat laces—his fits were always on point.
• Pee Wee kept it fly in Spitfire hats, windbreaker suits, and extra-thick laces, adding that street flair.
• K-Won brought a smooth edge with Spitfires, mock neck sweaters, Lee Rider jeans, and classic sneakers with fat laces.
• Gump went all in, rocking the full Puma suit, fat laces included—his dedication to the retro B-Boy style was next level.

These were the originators of the Retro B-Boy aesthetic, paving the way before I really started pushing it myself.

In this video featuring Popmaster Fabel and Ken Swift, they are discussing the original hip-hop fashion of the 1980s.
